Die Mittelschülerin Kagome lebt mit ihrer Familie auf dem Gelände eines Schreins im modernen Tokyo. An ihrem 15. Geburtstag wird sie von einem Tausendfüßler-Dämon in einen versiegelten Brunnen gezerrt und findet sich im feudalen Japan wieder.
